Travel obsessed? Big tech fan? Hey, you’re in good company. If you want to be part of the industry that makes the world go round, then look no further.

Travelport is the brains behind lots of your travel bookings- plane, car or hotel. Our technology is used to book that magical holiday, infamous bachelorette party or long overdue school reunion. While we can’t solve mosquito bites or lost luggage, we can simplify a lot of the technical parts of travel, and we’re looking for the best thinkers to help us do it.

We’re hiring right now for a Global Head of External Communications.

How you’ll make an impact:

The Global Head of External Communications is responsible for shaping and executing a dynamic public relations strategy that enhances our brand reputation, drives thought leadership and supports business growth worldwide. This role requires a strategic storyteller with travel industry expertise, strong media relationships, and a track record of managing global PR campaigns in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Your role in action:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global PR strategy to enhance brand visibility and industry influence.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers.
  • Act as the company’s spokesperson and manage crisis communications when necessary.
  • Lead the development of compelling content, including press releases, op-eds, and media pitches.
  • Collaborate with marketing, communications, commercial, and executive teams to align PR efforts with overall business goals.
  • Secure high-impact media coverage in top-tier global publications and industry-specific outlets.
  • Develop thought leadership platforms for key executives, supporting Travelport’s modern retailing and innovative disruptor positioning.
  • Monitor and analyze PR performance metrics, adjusting strategies to optimize effectiveness.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging media opportunities.

Could this be you?

  • Professional strategic communications practitioner with extensive experience within a global or multi-regional brand, familiar with complex matrix organizations.
  • Proven track record in the travel, technology, or SaaS industries.
  • Experience as a company spokesperson: comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews with a good knowledge of the international media landscape.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, fluent English.
  • Ability to craft compelling narratives and thought leadership content.
  • Experience managing crisis communications and reputation management.
  • Expertise in digital PR strategies, social media amplification, and influencer engagement.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to measure and report on PR effectiveness.
  • Comfortable working in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with globally dispersed teams.
  • A flexible team player, able to consistently exercise sound judgment, have a significant degree of self-motivation, and be comfortable with ambiguity.

Key Measures:

  • Leadership and contribution towards increasing Travelport’s external reputation in key markets based on its messages of growth and travel retailing transformation.
  • Successfully gain opportunities to position Travelport as an authoritative and persuasive commentator offering valuable opinion on travel and tech issues as well as on broader travel industry-related matters in both trade and mainstream media.
  • Develop compelling high quality, creatively produced materials and events for deployment through print, digital, and broadcast channels.
  • Effectively advise global and regional leadership on external relations, issue management and industry affairs based on broad knowledge of global business trends and the tech and travel sectors specifically.
  • Maintain and develop core services of media relations, monitoring and distribution, measurement, media and presentation training, media relations and crisis preparedness.
  • Effective use of a Communication/PR budget.
