Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned CTO-level leader to drive the ETF engineering platform. You will own the long-term technical vision, domain architecture, and resiliency for critical workflows, while guiding AI/GenAI adoption and governance across multiple product teams.

You will partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Cybersecurity to ensure controls by design and regulatory alignment, and you will lead a globally distributed organization focused on engineering excellence, talent development,

Qualifications

15+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
5+ years in senior leadership roles managing large, globally distributed engineering teams.
Deep expertise in building and operating high-availability, mission-critical financial systems at scale.
Strong technical foundation in Java, microservices architecture, cloud-native infrastructure (Azure/AWS), event-driven systems (Kafka), distributed databases, and modern CI/CD practices.
Demonstrated ability to drive organizational design, talent development, and engineering culture in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Proven track record of delivering resiliency, operational excellence, and engineering efficiency at enterprise scale.
Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to partner effectively at the executive level and across business and technology functions.
Experience with ETF primary markets, capital markets technology, or investment management platforms.
Experience leading AI/GenAI adoption in engineering organizations.
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks in financial services, such as SOX, SEC, and FCA.
Experience with Aladdin or comparable enterprise investment management platforms.

Responsibilities

Define and drive the long-term technical vision for the ETF engineering platform.
Own domain architecture decisions across ESP and adjacent systems.
Lead resiliency strategy for ETF critical workflows, including Creation/Redemption.
Establish engineering standards for code quality, observability, CI/CD, automated testing, and release governance.
Define and execute AI/GenAI adoption strategy for ETF Engineering.
Drive adoption of AI engineering tools and establish responsible AI governance frameworks.
Partner with AI/ML platform teams and vendors to evaluate, pilot, and scale AI capabilities.
Oversee delivery across multiple product engineering teams operating in an Agile/SAFe framework.
Drive release governance and software change management.
Manage cross-team dependencies with platform teams and external integrations.
Ensure engineering practices and platform capabilities comply with regulations and internal risk policies.
Embed resilience, business continuity, and disaster recovery into system design.
Own RCSA obligations and audit readiness.
Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Cybersecurity teams on controls by design.
Own production stability, support escalation, and incident management globally.
Lead, develop, and inspire a globally distributed engineering organization.
Own talent strategy, hiring, promotion calibration, organizational design, and workforce planning.
Develop engineering leaders at VP and Director level.
Champion engineering excellence, continuous learning, innovation, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Partner with Product Management and business leadership to align engineering investment with priorities.
Represent ETF Engineering in leadership reviews and cross-product initiatives.
