Job summary
Genentech is seeking a Global Head of Platform Technology Development to translate a multi-year AI-native autonomous lab vision into rigorous platform capabilities. You will lead core technology platform development across laboratory automation systems, robotics, and digital twins to enable autonomous lab operations for Roche R&D needs.
The role requires 15+ years in laboratory automation with leadership experience, strong expertise in Physical AI/ML, and familiarity with Python, gRPC, REST, and
Qualifications
- MS/PhD in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics), Computer Science, Bioengineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 15+ years in laboratory automation, high-throughput experimentation, or autonomous platforms with leadership experience.
- Experience driving shift to agentic programmability and flexible control.
- Familiarity with integration protocols (Python, gRPC, REST) and robotics simulation environments.
- Experience with GxP / regulated environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the automation platform technologies, robotics and simulations engineering within the Accelerator.
- Represent Roche externally to standards bodies and consortia.
- Oversee 3D digital twin models and sim-to-real pipeline for autonomous labs.
- Drive edge AI deployment for real-time lab state monitoring.
- Build and lead a cross-functional team of engineers and AI researchers.
