Job summary

Google Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Global Commodity Manager for HDD and Tape Storage to drive supplier selection and master agreements.

You will develop commodity strategies, lead cross-functional teams, and optimize total cost of ownership across Google's infrastructure. You will manage supplier relationships, performance, and roadmap alignment with engineering, while negotiating comprehensive agreements and driving supply chain improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management.
• Experience in HDD and Tape Storage commodity management, agreement negotiation, and supplier development.
• MBA or Master's degree in a technical or engineering field.
• 10 years of experience managing HDD and Tape Storage commodities.
• Knowledge of HDD and Tape Storage industry, manufacturing, assembly and test processes.
• Excellent investigative skills in industry analysis, cost modeling, quotation analysis, roadmap development, and supplier selection.

Responsibilities

• Develop long term sourcing strategies for HDD and Tape Storage. Implement Supply Chain improvements.
• Develop and manage master purchase agreements with suppliers. Conduct high-level discussion and secure comprehensive agreements with supplier executives.
• Lead cross-functional teams while growing and maintaining a high level of industry expertise and supplier/market conditions.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance in technology alignment, cost, quality, delivery and resiliency.
• Interface with engineering for early engagement and roadmap alignment and lead supplier selection for Tape Storage.
