Job summary

HMM America Shipping Agency in Irving, TX seeks a motivated Hazmat Coordinator to ensure regulatory compliance for the safe transport of hazardous materials and prevent fines for non‑compliance. The role requires knowledge of USDOT 49 CFR and IMDG Code, strong data entry, and coordination with vessel owners and regulatory bodies.

You will interact daily with internal teams and customers worldwide to ensure compliant shipments, accurate documentation, and excellent service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred in Science, Supply Chain Management or International Business.
• Shipping industry experience and hazmat regulations knowledge highly valued.
• At least 1 year transportation experience with hazmat knowledge and USDOT 49 CFR/IMDG Code understanding.
• Able to troubleshoot and communicate effectively with customers globally.

Responsibilities

• Receive documentation via email from customers and print/review for regulatory compliance.
• Key data elements entered into HMM operating system and maintained accurately.
• Organize and track multiple issues; coordinate with Customer Service Centers for compliance.
• Monitor and coordinate hazmat activities for domestic and international shipments; review docs and approve hazmat applications.
• Route and track shipments; prepare reports; ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
• Coordinate loading/transit with vessel owners, load ports, transit ports and regulatory bodies.
• Interact with worldwide operations to ensure excellent customer service.
• Provide customers with hazmat regulation guidance and resolve documentation discrepancies.
