Job summary

Ultra in New York is seeking a Supply Chain & Procurement Lead to own sourcing, purchasing, and logistics as we scale robot production from 100 to 1000+ units. You will build and manage supplier relationships, optimize ordering, and align inbound logistics with manufacturing goals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years owning procurement, sourcing, and/or supply chain in hardware/manufacturing.
• Strong supplier management: finding and qualifying vendors, negotiating pricing and payment terms, and building long-term relationships.
• Proven track record in making ordering and purchasing run smoothly — POs, approvals, and the systems behind them (ERP/MRP, PLM, or equivalent).
• Experience with inventory management and demand/forecasting, with a bias toward tooling to keep counts accurate at speed.
• Familiarity with inbound logistics: booking freight, tracking shipments, and international shipping, imports, and customs.
• Experience holding suppliers to a quality standard — inspection, scorecards, and corrective action.
• Willingness to travel internationally, including to China, to develop the supply base.
• Bonus: experience with contract manufacturing or scaling sourcing beyond in-house production.
• Bonus: Mandarin or other relevant language skills for working directly with overseas suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage vendor relationships across our parts base, domestically and internationally.
• Place and track purchase orders to keep builds on schedule and enable manufacturing to order easily.
• Run RFQs and translate NPI and BOM changes into sourcing decisions with manufacturing and hardware teams.
• Own inventory accuracy and demand/forecasting signals with automation where possible.
• Build purchasing workflows, approvals, and PO tracking to scale as we grow.
• Manage lead times and costs against targets, flagging and mitigating supply risk for single-source and long-lead parts.
• Book transport for inbound parts and move shipments to the door; track status and coordinate international shipping.
• Drive supplier quality control by setting expectations, tracking performance, and taking corrective action.
