Job summary

Lyft, Inc. is hiring an Engineering Manager on Global Growth to set the technical direction for the team, balance investments between technology and product work, and communicate strategy to leadership.

You will work closely with Product, Design, Science, and Operations to shape product direction by understanding customers and leading a group of engineers to create measurable business impact.

Qualifications

• BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering industry experience with technical leadership.
• 2+ years of experience with people management.
• Ability to contribute to planning and design discussions.
• Customer-focused mindset.
• Experience building trust to lead engineers and guide career development.
• Experience scaling teams and products.
• Collaborative, outcome-driven approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of backend and mobile engineers who ship code and tackle hard engineering problems.
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of team members and assign projects.
• Build teams that are collaborative, inclusive, and respectful.
• Set the technical vision and strategy for an evolving product area.
• Co-own the product strategy with the product partner and ensure timely delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.
• Prioritize technical and resourcing plans within the organization.
• Balance building high-impact projects with rapid shipping.
• Foster continuous improvement in code, architecture, and processes.
• Collaborate with Lyft recruiting to hire diverse talent.
• Own the team's deliverables and ship scalable, highly-available products.
