Job summary

Lyft is seeking an Engineering Manager on Global Growth to set the technical direction, mentor engineers, and partner with Product, Design, Science, and Operations to drive business impact.

You will lead backend and mobile teams, shape technical vision, and co-own product strategy with product partners while delivering high-quality engineering solutions in a highly cross-functional environment in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering industry experience with technical leadership.
• 2+ years of people management experience.
• Technical background with ability to contribute to planning and design discussions.
• Customer-focused mindset and ability to build trust with the team and partners.
• Ability to lead teams and drive projects to completion in a cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of backend and mobile engineers to ship code and solve hard engineering problems.
• Mentor and develop team members’ careers and assign projects aligned to their skills and goals.
• Build collaborative, inclusive teams.
• Set the technical vision and strategy for an evolving product area.
• Co-own the product strategy with the product partner and ensure timely delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.
• Plan for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges; balance long-term impact with rapid delivery.
• Foster continuous improvement in code, architecture, and processes.
• Collaborate with recruiting to hire high-potential engineers from diverse backgrounds.
• Deliver scalable, highly-available products that delight users.
