Job summary

Evidence Action in Washington, DC seeks a Group Controller to lead our central accounting function, ensure the integrity of monthly and annual closes, and deliver US GAAP financial reporting for our global programs.

You will design and continuously improve accounting systems and controls, manage a US-based team, collaborate with the CFO, oversee audits and donor reporting, and drive automation and AI-enabled efficiency across financial operations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
• 10+ years progressive accounting experience, multi-entity consolidation under US GAAP.
• Experience in nonprofit and international development; donor/grant reporting.
• Experience leading managers and global teams; strong communication skills.
• Experience with accounting/ERP and consolidation tools (Sage Intacct, Planful).

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close and intercompany eliminations under US GAAP.
• Operate cost allocations and maintain internal-control framework.
• Lead external audits, tax compliance, and donor/grant reporting.
• Develop finance talent; succession planning within the central accounting team.
• Drive automation and AI enhancements across financial operations.
