Job summary

Sapio Sciences is seeking a Financial Controller to own global accounting and financial reporting for a PE-backed SaaS life sciences business. The role requires hands-on leadership across multi-country entities, strong US GAAP expertise, and collaboration with cross-functional leaders.

This position is remote within the Eastern Time Zone and reports to the VP-Finance. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of accounting experience, public/PE familiarity, and a track record of audit-ready financials

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA (or international equivalent) required.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting preferred.
• Experience owning global, multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP; working knowledge of IFRS/UK GAAP.
• SaaS or software industry experience; life sciences/healthcare-adjacent preferred.
• Experience in a private equity‑backed environment with lender Reporting.
• Must sit within the Eastern Time Zone of the United States.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close and consolidation across US and international entities.
• Serve as technical accounting authority for SaaS revenue, leases, equity, and R&D cost treatment.
• Design and maintain internal controls framework for scaling PE-backed business.
• Oversee statutory/regulatory filings and manage external audits.
• Own cash management, forecasting, and banking relationships.
• Support due diligence and post-close system and process integrations.
• Lead and mentor a global accounting team.
• Partner with Legal, Revenue Ops, and business leaders on deal structures and financial implications.
