Job summary

Teledyne ETM in Newark, CA designs and builds high-power electronic subsystems for communications, radar, and medical markets. The Field Service Engineer role focuses on on-site installation, testing, troubleshooting and repair of complex systems, with significant travel.

You will work with high‑power RF amplifiers, linear accelerators, HV power supplies and thermal control units, performing preventive maintenance and reporting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or military/industry equivalent required.
• requires 5 years hands-on field service or bench troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with high‑power electronics, RF systems, and high‑voltage equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and service documentation.
• Must have a valid U.S. passport and driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel extensively, including internationally.

Responsibilities

• Install on-site, checkout, preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair complex systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and thermal issues at system/subassembly level.
• Verify performance using schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and test procedures.
• Identify cooling/thermal issues and sensor/control faults.
• Perform work safely around high‑voltage/high‑power equipment.
• Complete accurate field service reports and documentation.
• Travel to customer sites worldwide ~80% when not in Newark, CA.
