Job summary

Lilly is seeking a Director-level DL (Design Lead) to oversee design delivery for capital projects, leading a mixed team of Lilly staff and external partners on a multi-node network. The role focuses on developing design requirements, standards, and regulatory guidance, while coordinating with project managers and A/E firms to deliver on time.

The successful candidate will drive process improvements, SOP development, and value engineering, with travel to project sites and weekly on-site work.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical strongly preferred).
• Minimum of 20 years manufacturing and/or engineering in support of pharmaceutical or API networks.
• Ability to work at the project site weekly; reports through Indianapolis but located on site.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design delivery for capital projects and manage a team of DLs.
• Lead the identification of applicable design standards, specs and regulatory guidance.
• Coordinate with Project Manager during all design phases and with A/E firms.
• Own design decisions and ensure design meets approved intent through cross‑functional interactions.
• Develop SOPs and best practices for design verification; keep current with industry standards.
• Direct the development of design requirements and project verification plans.
• Support value engineering to maximize opportunities and reduce costs.
• Participate in KPI reviews and verification activities.
