Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Seattle, WA, is seeking a Network Engineer to design, deploy, operate and automate one of the world’s largest and most complex networks.

You will build and optimize DWDM networks, drive scalable designs, and work with cross-functional teams to maintain reliability and security. The ideal candidate has 4+ years in routing, Linux/Unix, and DWDM, plus experience with optical planning tools and automation scripting.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
• 4+ years in a Linux/Unix environment.
• 4+ years’ experience with rollout and operations of large DWDM networks and Optical network technologies.
• 3+ years’ experience with optical planning and modelling tools.

Responsibilities

• Build, Operate and rollout our global DWDM networks.
• Drive scaling current DWDM designs to meet demand.
• Create processes that help operate and build our DWDM network.
• Work closely with other Networking departments on new designs.
• Ensure that the DWDM network adheres to defined standards.
• Review and implement changes on the DWDM network.
• Drive operational excellence projects to improve DWDM quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative network solutions day to day.
• Demonstrate autonomy, strong communication, and time-management in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
