Job summary

Cogent Communications is seeking a technically skilled field engineer to manage network field activity, install network elements, and test new customer circuits across data centers and hubs. You will maintain fiber networks, data centers, and coordinate with planners and service delivery teams to ensure reliable, scalable IP services.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in telecom networks, DWDM/IP experience, and proficiency with OPM/OTDR/OSA tests, with strong problem solving and interpersonal

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience on telecommunication networks.
• 1+ years of field experience in DWDM/IP networks.
• Experience using telecom test equipment and interpreting results.

Responsibilities

• Manage all network field activity on Cogent network.
• Install network elements at Cogent data centers and hubs.
• Turn up and test new customer circuits in data centers.
• Maintain Cogent fiber network and transmission equipment.
• Maintain Cogent data centers and facilities.
• Oversee contractors and vendors.
• Coordinate with planning and service delivery teams.
• Work with CWDM/DWDM tech and power systems.
