Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Director of Social Media to lead our global social strategy and drive meaningful engagement across customers, users, contributors, candidates, and industry audiences.

You will own the social function's strategy, budget, tooling, and staff development, partnering with executive leadership to shape and measure impact in an all-remote, asynchronous environment. You will mentor two Social Media Managers and raise the editorial bar across channels.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in social media, including senior leadership responsibilities.
• Experience owning a social function end to end: strategy, budget, tooling, and results.
• Strong editorial judgment and ability to translate complex topics into clear content.

Responsibilities

• Own the performance of GitLab's social function and its contribution to marketing and business goals.
• Lead global organic social strategy, channel plans, and editorial priorities.
• Own YouTube strategy end to end: architecture, programming, formats, and SEO.
• Partner with Growth Marketing on paid social and align organic/paid on shared audiences.
• Develop audience-focused campaigns supporting company, product, brand, and talent goals.
• Guide content planning and publishing across channels with a consistent GitLab voice.
• Manage social budget, tooling stack, and relationships with agencies and production partners.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, Product, Sales, and Talent Acquisition to deliver social programs.
