Job summary

HARMAN Lifestyle’s JBL Professional division seeks a Director of Mechanical Engineering & Prototyping to lead global mechanical design, enclosure architectures, and rapid prototyping across the loudspeaker portfolio. You’ll drive engineering excellence, collaborate across Engineering, Product Management, Acoustics, and Quality, and shape a roadmap for robust, manufacturable systems.

The role requires 12+ years in product development with 5+ years of leadership, a strong mechanical background,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 12+ years of product development engineering experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams and technical leaders.
• Strong background in mechanical design, materials, manufacturing processes, and structural analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design of loudspeaker enclosures, structural components, rigging interfaces and related systems.
• Lead mechanical development activities from concept through production.
• Drive design, analysis, prototyping, and engineering validation.
• Ensure solutions meet performance, quality, manufacturability, sustainability and cost objectives.
• Provide technical leadership for complex product development and reviews.
