Job summary

Twilio, a remote-first leader in communications, seeks a Senior Director of Developer Relations to shape worldwide developer engagement. You will lead a hybrid-engineer-marketers group and advance GTM motions, reporting to Marketing while partnering with Product and GTM.

You will build a scalable global org, raise our developer experience, and drive community programs, events, and content. The role emphasizes strategic leadership, empathy, and high-visibility impact across the developer

Qualifications

• 7+ years of leadership experience managing developer relations, technical evangelism, or community advocacy programs (and 10+ years total working in this technical field).
• Proven track record of building, training, and scaling outstanding technical global teams to support local and global stakeholders.
• Deep technical baseline with an understanding of software developer personas and workflows (e.g., former full-time developer or hands-on software development experience).
• Strong data-driven execution skills with a demonstrated understanding of marketing motions and user growth metrics.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships with C-level executives, journalists, bloggers, and industry analysts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a figurehead, influencer, and key speaker on the global DevRel circuit, setting a high standard for how Twilio engages with builders online and offline.
• Define the long-term global narrative for developer marketing. Build consensus and influence at the executive level to ensure cross-functional alignment with Product, Marketing, and GTM teams.
• Recruit, mentor, and cultivate a global organization of Developer Evangelists, Advocates, and community specialists. Foster a culture of technical excellence blending engineering rigor with marketing storytelling.
• Guide and scale Twilio's global Startups Program, shaping strategic frameworks, partnerships, and early-stage developer initiatives.
• Oversee a comprehensive technical content program (video, newsletters, YouTube) to showcase Twilio’s possibilities; collaborate with PR to amplify developer-first storytelling.
