Job summary

Amphenol Aerospace in Sidney, NY seeks a Buyer (Direct Materials) to acquire materials and services meeting quality, price, delivery and service goals. The role partners with Planning, Quality, Marketing and Engineering to develop sourcing strategies and manage supplier relationships.

You will review MRP inputs, negotiate cost savings, support make-vs-buy decisions, and ensure compliance with Purchasing Procedures while traveling up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business or a technical field.
• Full knowledge of MRP.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Adherence to Purchasing Procedures and Policies.

Responsibilities

• Develop sourcing strategies to maximize price, delivery and quality.
• Develop global suppliers with collaboration of Sourcing Engineers.
• Analyze supplier proposals to determine best source of supply.
• Review Material Requirements Plan in support of production requirements.
• Implement and manage consignment, kanban and purchase agreements.
• Negotiate and implement cost savings to meet operational targets.
• Continuously evaluate supply base performance and implement improvement counter measures.
• Collaborate with Planning, Quality, Marketing and Engineering functions.
• Conduct make v. buy decisions to ensure outsourcing is competitive and adheres to production requirements.
