Job summary

Grifols Diagnostics Solutions in San Diego is seeking an experienced Director of Manufacturing to provide leadership across all stages of the biotech manufacturing process, ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while delivering on production schedules.

The role emphasizes strategic direction, process optimization, and collaboration with multiple Grifols sites. A minimum 10 years of biotech/pharma leadership, plus strong project management and team leadership, are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical environment including leadership and management roles.
• Experience leading upstream and/or downstream bulk manufacturing processes preferred.
• Microbial production experience preferred.
• Strong project management and team leadership experience required.
• Equivalency options may be considered in place of stated requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead all stages of manufacturing operations for a CBER regulated diagnostic reagent manufacturing facility.
• Grow and develop an empowered manufacturing organization with accountability for recruiting, training, safety, and career development.
• Lead lean manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives.
• Participate as a member of the Diagnostics Operations Management team to set priorities and provide strategic direction.
• Partner with other functions to ensure timely completion of key initiatives across Grifols sites.
• Oversee projects in facility, equipment and process improvements, IT systems and other initiatives.
• Manage budgeting and planning for manufacturing to meet customer, financial, and operational objectives.
• Support and lead change management initiatives and ensure GMP/compliance.
• Participate in tech transfer, partnership projects, and due diligence activities with business development.
• Up to 15-20% travel.
