Job summary

Wanzl North America seeks a Sr. Manager of Design & Development to lead the product design and engineering development team in a matrixed structure. You will drive engineering standards, capabilities, and execution for multiple segments, coordinating with Sales, Product Management, and global teams.

You will guide D&D processes, manage resource planning, support SAP/ECR and IP protection, and ensure on‑time, high‑quality deliverables for ETO projects and customer‑specific solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; advanced degree a plus.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience with 5+ years in supervision or leadership.
• 3 years' experience with electronics and computer networking systems preferred.
• 5 years’ experience in retail products or related manufacturing sectors.
• Experience leading development teams using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Own the D&D function across segments, establishing engineering standards and design processes.
• Develop and manage technical capabilities, training, mentoring, and career development.
• Apply design methodologies: requirements, CAD modeling, DFM, DTC, prototyping, and change control.
• Lead resource planning and cross‑functional collaboration to meet segment needs.
• Oversee change management, product design releases, and configuration management.
