Job summary

Williams-Sonoma, Inc. in Memphis, TN seeks a Director of Customs Operations & Compliance to lead customs operations, trade compliance, and transportation activities across a complex global supply chain.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to mitigate regulatory risk, optimize landed costs, and leverage technology for improved performance. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a passion for developing people.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Engineering, Business, or related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in customs operations, international trade compliance, or related disciplines.
• At least 8 years of leadership experience managing teams within Customs Brokerage, Trade Compliance, International Transportation, or Supply Chain.
• Active U.S. Customs Broker License required.
• Expert knowledge of tariff classification, customs valuation, country of origin, and duty mitigation programs.
• Experience in audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory examinations.
• Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for customs operations, import clearance activities, and trade compliance programs.
• Serve as primary escalation point for compliance issues and customer concerns.
• Ensure timely and compliant execution of U.S. Customs import entries across modes.
• Maintain regulatory requirements for Powers of Attorney, bonds, and recordkeeping.
• Establish and maintain standard operating procedures across the organization.
• Monitor regulatory developments from CBP, PGAs, and other sources.
