Job summary

DHL Express in Kentucky is seeking a Customs Entry Agent to ensure compliance with U.S. regulations on imports and exports, process entries, calculate tariffs, and review invoices and shipping documents.

The role requires attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment. Responsibilities include classifying shipments, managing entry extensions, coordinating with origin/destination locations, and supporting documentation for FDA/US Customs clearance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Overtime is required.
• 1 year experience in transportation or customs preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), database and web-based applications.
• Good oral and written communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills; courteous and clear telephone voice.
• Proficiency on a 10 key calculator.
• Position requires access to secured airport areas; must obtain SIDA badge and clearance.

Responsibilities

• Participates in planning and directing the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations.
• Effectively classifies dutiable import/export shipments to ensure compliance with all government agency rules and regulations.
• Processes all requests for extensions, expiration, cancellation and all government entries.
• Communicates with origin and destination locations regarding shipment status and special handling and delivery processes.
• Applies for Import/Export Permits and Certificates of Eligibility.
• Maintains open line of communication with department of foreign affairs.
• May receive and distribute all incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence.
• Examine online commercial invoices and other documents to determine correct Harmonized Tariff Code for each commodity.
• Knowledge of US Customs Regulations regarding FTAs and other duty exemptions.
• Must be detail oriented, organized, and possess time management skills.
• Process shipments through online portals for FDA and US Customs to obtain proper clearance.
