Job summary

DHL Express in Kentucky, United States, is seeking a Customs Entry Agent to ensure compliance with U.S. customs regulations and to process entries for imported goods.

You will examine invoices, bills of lading, and other documents to determine tariff codes and facilitate release of freight while coordinating with origin and destination locations. Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or equivalent, experience in transportation or customs, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Associate degree preferred).
• Overtime is required.
• 1 year experience in transportation or customs preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), database and web-based applications.
• Good oral and written communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills; courteous and clear telephone voice.
• Proficiency on a 10 key calculator.
• This position requires access to secured airport areas. You must obtain and maintain a SIDA badge and pass security checks.

Responsibilities

• Participates in planning and directing the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations.
• Effectively classifies dutiable import/export shipments to ensure compliance with all government rules.
• Processes all requests for extensions, expiration, cancellation and government entries.
• Communicates with origin and destination locations regarding shipment status and special handling and delivery processes.
• Applies for Import/Export Permits and Certificates of Eligibility.
• Maintains open line of communication with foreign affairs.
