Job summary

GKN Aerospace is seeking a Customs Compliance Specialist to ensure compliance with U.S. and international customs regulations, supporting efficient movement of goods across borders and mitigating regulatory risk.

The role requires managing declarations, tariff classifications, valuations, and origin determinations while supporting duty optimization initiatives and maintaining accurate documentation. You will partner with Procurement, Logistics, and Engineering to resolve trade-related issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years in customs compliance or international trade operations.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. CBP regulations and international trade requirements.
• Experience with customs documentation, PGA requirements, FTA claims, and Chapter 98 provisions.
• Familiarity with ACE, AES, and broker management.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage import/export compliance activities per U.S. and international requirements.
• Review shipment pre-alerts; oversee end-to-end customs clearance for inbound/outbound.
• Prepare, review, and submit customs declarations and trade docs (tariff classifications, origin determinations, EEI, FTAs).
• Submit export filings via AES when not handled by a third party; ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain trade compliance records and master data; coordinate with brokers and logistics providers.
• Identify opportunities to optimize duty/tax costs using programs and trade agreements.
• Audit broker activities and analyze data to identify compliance risks.
• Produce compliance metrics, KPIs, and support audits and inquiries.
• Serve as site expert on customs and trade compliance; collaborate cross-functionally.
