Job summary

Nu is seeking a Lead Business Control Officer for Global Credit Card to strengthen the first line of defense and enable sustainable growth. You will partner with senior leaders across risk, product, and operations to identify, assess, and manage non-financial risks with a strong control environment.

You will lead the evolution of the BCO model, embedding risk ownership in the first line, and drive governance, reporting, and continuous improvement across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with credit card products and businesses, ideally global or multi-market.
• Strong background in non-financial risk, operational risk, or related disciplines.
• Solid understanding of risk/control frameworks, governance, and regulatory expectations for consumer credit.
• Experience designing and improving processes and internal controls with mapping.
• Ability to influence and build relationships with senior leaders.
• Hands-on ownership mindset with strategic risk view.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to translate issues into actions.
• Excellent English communication, concise and structured.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary first-line risk partner for Global Credit Card, balancing risk and business impact.
• Understand end-to-end processes, risks, and controls across the lifecycle.
• Design and improve internal controls to identify, mitigate, and monitor risk.
• Lead risk management activities: RCSA, loss events, remediation, continuous improvement.
• Ensure governance, risk, and compliance with policies and external regulations.
• Support product development with proactive risk lens in decisions.
• Define, track, and report risk metrics to enable timely decisions.
• Run governance forums with stakeholders to discuss risks and remediation.
• Present clear risk reports to senior leadership and governance bodies.
• Collaborate with second/third lines of defense to maintain first-line ownership.
