Job summary

Emerson seeks a senior Contracts leader to oversee Contract Services across the Americas, drafting and negotiating complex agreements and guiding cross‑functional teams. You will manage staff, mentor teammates, and liaise with customers, government agencies, and Emerson stakeholders to close deals.

With 8+ years in contracts, a law degree, and US eligibility, you will drive policy-compliant negotiations, risk assessment, and strategic guidance for global accounts and major frame agreements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of contracts-related experience.
• Law degree and licensed to practice law in the US or Emerson applicable jurisdiction
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills
• Intermediate MS Office skills
• Excellent oral and written English language skills
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Comprehensive knowledge of contract law and principles
• Knowledge of commercial provisions such as warranty, liquidated damages/penalties, payment and freight terms, documentary credits, and bank guarantees/sureties
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future
• 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred
• Completion of IACCM Advanced Contract and Commercial Management (CCM) Practitioner preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead the Contract Services function supporting all Business Units across the Americas World Area, primarily for English-language sales pursuits
• Review, draft, and negotiate agreements and transaction documents independently in compliance with applicable policies and legal and ethical standards
• Respond to customers’ RFPs/RFQs, vendor qualification documents, and contractual requests
• Draft and negotiate contractual language reflecting the business interests and policies of the parties
• Manage the Contract Services team and requests for all Business Units in the Americas World Area
• Serve as Contracts Lead on complex international and multi-Business Unit project contracts
• Lead complex frame agreements and act as Global Contracts Lead for Global Strategic Accounts
• Develop and communicate creative solutions and mitigation strategies for key negotiations
• Apply expert subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities and solve complex business and technical issues
• Mentor, train, and support the development of Contracts Services personnel
• Recruit direct staff members and assist with regional Contract Services recruitment
• Advise during approval processes to support informed decisions and secure appropriate approvals
• Interface with customers, legal team members, and Emerson stakeholders to close deals
• Communicate directly and regularly with government agencies when needed
• Analyze business, financial, and legal risks and advise English-speaking region management on policies and long-term goals
• Research existing agreements and contractual programs and compile data for reports
• Provide contract guidance to Sales, Project Management, and other stakeholders
• Conduct legal research and provide independent legal advice and interpretation
• Direct outside counsel on routine matters
