Job summary

White & Case is seeking a Compliance Lawyer in Tampa, FL to support the Office of the General Counsel, Compliance and New Business teams in managing global lateral-hire conflicts. The role advises HR and business services on procedures and conflicts-screening, tracks hires worldwide, and drafts waivers and related correspondence to ensure regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• JD in Good Standing is required.
• Admission to the Florida Bar is required.
• Minimum two years experience in a law firm, preferably in a Conflicts department or GC office.
• Experience with lateral hire onboarding and conflicts resolution.
• Understanding of ABA ethics and conflicts rules, and ability to navigate international rules.

Responsibilities

• Support OGC and Compliance team with oversight of lateral onboarding and conflicts protocols.
• Administer lateral hire process, coordinating with Global and Local HR teams and onboarding, producing reports.
• Close potential conflicts with Firm Partners in collaboration with OGC; manage related documentation.
• Draft waiver letters in relation to lateral hire conflicts for OGC and risk management.
• Stay updated on global ethics rules related to lateral conflicts and screens.
• Work with Compliance analysts to improve search techniques and analysis.
• Prepare and review docket reports for litigation candidates to identify conflicts.
• Assist with design and testing of automated workflows for lateral conflicts.
• Coordinate and troubleshoot ethical screen issues for lateral hires.
• Support oversight of screen maintenance and takedown policy.
