Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Compensation Programs & Operations Lead to own the end-to-end management of our global compensation programs, from scoping through launch and continuous improvement.

This senior, hands-on role requires expertise in compensation operations, analysis, business partnership, and program management, with the ability to partner across People, Finance, Legal, Payroll, Equity Administration, and HR Operations to drive accurate, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive compensation experience in global programs
• Experience across compensation operations analysis, compensation analysis, business partnership, and program management
• Deep knowledge of base pay, incentives, equity, market benchmarking, salary structures and job architecture

Responsibilities

• Lead our compensation program portfolio: roadmap and calendar for cyclical and ad hoc programs including reviews, bonus and equity cycles, promotions and retention initiatives.
• Drive programs from planning through completion: define scope, milestones, owners, dependencies, and resource needs.
• Translate compensation designs into practical operations: eligibility rules, workflows, approval paths, and exception processes.
• Stay close to the analysis and data: build and review models, validate inputs, and reconcile outcomes.
• Build reliable execution controls: approvals, access controls, and audit trails; coordinate handoffs to Payroll and Equity Administration.
• Shape compensation systems and tooling: translate needs into requirements, configure systems, and prioritize improvements.
• Manage incoming requests and changing priorities: practical intake and prioritization process for ad hoc initiatives.
• Make programs easier to understand and use: operating guides, resources, communications, and training.
• Improve how the function operates: post-cycle reviews and process simplification
