Job summary

Wellspring Philanthropic Fund in Washington, DC seeks a Program Officer for the Global Children’s Rights (GCR) team to advance the rights and wellbeing of children. You will report to the Program Director and collaborate with a small team on strategy, grants management, evaluation, and donor engagement.

The role requires a graduate degree in a related field and substantial grantmaking experience, including international travel.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in international development, child development, human rights, or related field.
• Seven to fifteen years of work experience in children’s rights.
• Five years’ experience in grantmaking preferred, including reviewing or writing proposals.
• Experience living and working at community level in a developing country for at least a year preferred.
• Strong writing skills and ability to synthesize complex information.

Responsibilities

• Develop, refine, and implement grantmaking priorities and strategies.
• Monitor field developments and identify gaps aligned with strategy.
• Provide thought leadership to advance the portfolio.
• Build relationships with grantees; conduct site visits internationally.
• Advise grantees on governance, growth, planning, and capacity.
• Coordinate learning processes and share evidence with the field.
