Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Research Technician II to support a funded NCI project examining a membrane protein on glioma cells and immune evasion in animal models. The role covers cell culture, animal surgery, tissue harvest, IHC, spatial transcriptomics, single-nuc RNA-seq, and imaging.

The team includes PhD cancer biologists, neuroscientists, and clinicians. The position starts Sep 1, 2026, with a potential 2-year commitment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or two additional years of relative laboratory experience required.
• Demonstrates ability to safely perform assigned job tasks in a research setting.
• Strong communication and data management skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs intermediate bench chemistry, microbiology, molecular biology or related techniques according to protocol.
• Performs various advanced assays, imaging experiments, and other technical duties to assist with the research activities.
• Organizes the workflow, proactively problem solves, anticipates needs, and manages multiple priorities with clear communication.
• Maintains and analyzes data, assists with sample collection and processing, and supports protocol development.
