GL Supervisor

Location: Tigard – Great hybrid flexibility!

Salary: $100,000 – $115,000

About the Role

This position serves as a hands-on accounting lead responsible for overseeing general ledger operations, monthly close activities, and fixed asset accounting in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the General Ledger Supervisor provides day-to-day functional direction, technical guidance, and review for assigned accounting team members while maintaining individual ownership over complex journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.

Operating in a professional office environment, this exempt role bridges technical accounting execution with peer mentorship, process improvement initiatives, and cross-departmental collaboration to ensure financial accuracy and internal control compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • General Ledger & Month-End Close: Prepare and post routine and adjusting journal entries, including prepaid amortizations, expense and bonus accruals, allocations, bad debt calculations, and fixed asset depreciation; lead assigned month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close tasks.

  • Account Reconciliations & Analysis: Reconcile complex bank, general ledger, and subsidiary accounts; investigate balance fluctuations, research unusual variances, and document sound resolutions.

  • Peer Review & Work Direction: Provide day-to-day guidance, technical training, and constructive feedback to accounting staff; review journal entries and reconciliations prepared by team members for completeness and accuracy.

  • Fixed Asset Accounting: Own the fixed asset lifecycle as the primary accounting resource, managing capitalization assessments, capital projects, additions, transfers, disposals, and monthly depreciation schedules.

  • Audit Support & Compliance: Assist in preparing financial reporting packages, compiling audit schedules, and supplying documentation for internal and external audits under U.S. GAAP standards.

  • Process Improvement & Projects: Lead departmental projects and operational enhancements by tracking milestones, partnering with internal departments, and streamlining accounting workflows.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with prior background providing work direction, training, or peer review preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and dedicated fixed asset accounting.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

  • Strong analytical capabilities, high attention to detail, and sound judgment for resolving discrepancies independently.

  • Professional communication skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple entities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in multi-entity accounting structures.

  • Direct system familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics GP and BI360 reporting tools.
