Job summary

Helix Water District is hiring a GIS Technician I/II to maintain and enhance the district's GIS database and mapping applications. You will work with data spanning a large water distribution network and interact with field crews and operations staff to deliver clear GIS insights.

The role requires an associate degree in geography or related field, at least two years of GIS experience (preferably in utilities), a valid Class C license, and strong collaborative, detail‑oriented skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in geography or closely related field.
• Minimum of two years GIS experience, preferably in a public utility.
• Valid Class C driver's license.
• Strong technical curiosity, attention to detail and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance the district's GIS database and mapping applications.
• Review engineering drawings, reports, legal maps and datasets to update spatial and tabular data.
• Collaborate with construction crews and operations staff in office and field.
• Explain GIS and GPS concepts clearly to end-users and provide customer-friendly support.
• Develop effective maps, reports and GIS solutions.
