The GIS Technician will support creating and maintaining GIS layers, QA/QC processes, data validation, queries, and mapping tasks as part of SAM's cross-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science or similar field.
• 0-3 years as a GIS Technician.
• Understanding of computer programming and data analysis skills.
• Knowledge of modern cartographic standards and principles.
• Advanced statistical, mathematical, and methodology skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to travel when required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with interpreting as-built drawings, construction plans, engineering plans, recorded maps, deeds, legal descriptions, imagery and related source documents and incorporate them into GIS using various methods including coordinate geometry (COGO), digitizing.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of multiple GIS layers including parcels, streets, right-of-way, zoning, and other development layers.
• Follow QA/QC processes and perform routine data management tasks, such as data validation and correction, queries and editing in GIS to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and completeness.
• Assist with GIS and data analysis, prepare and execute queries, produce maps, spreadsheets, graphs, and other analytical products.
