Job summary

Morongo Band of Mission Indians is seeking a GIS/Survey Analyst to create, maintain, and analyze geographically referenced data. You will work with GIS and land surveying software to produce maps and exhibits, supporting land projects and boundary determinations.

The role requires a 4-year degree and hands-on GIS experience, with occasional outside work and strong communication skills to convey spatial information to non-GIS staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography or related field and 1+ years of experience in mapping of Right of Ways, Easements, Survey Legal Descriptions, Utilities, and Parcel boundaries.

Under the direction of the Realty Administrator, this position works with GIS and land surveying software and tools to create, maintain, and analyze geographically referenced data. Responsibilities include engaging in a variety of land-surveying projects; planning, coordinating, and resolving problems related to survey functions; researching, compiling, processing, and analyzing GIS and survey data; and producing maps, drawings, and exhibits for projects. The role involves surveying and investigating land surfaces to obtain precise measurements and determine the location of lines, angles, points, areas, and elevations. Additional responsibilities include performing boundary calculations and ensuring the accuracy of survey records, data, notes, and sketches.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography or related field and 1+ years of experience in mapping of Right of Ways, Easements, Survey Legal Descriptions, Utilities, and Parcel boundaries.
• Proficient in ArcMap 10.3 or higher, GPS Trimble, and other GIS/GPS technologies.
• Effective communication skills to work with varied backgrounds and convey GIS/spatial information to non-GIS technical people.
• Analytical and development skills to solve problems using the GIS suite of tools as well as other software programs.
• GISP certification is a plus however not required.
• Valid CA driver’s license and insurable on Morongo’s insurance policy.
• Occasional weekend and evening work, outside and office environment.
