Arkansas Department of Transportation is seeking a GIS professional to perform cartographic and GIS functions with spatial data, preparing data, maps, and related graphics for statewide transportation planning needs.

Role includes creating and maintaining GIS databases, designing methodologies, and publishing data for planning purposes. Strong knowledge of GIS software and tools, imagery resources, and coordinate systems is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography or related field heavily involving GIS/mapping.
• Experience in GIS and mapping project design and methodology creation.
• Knowledge of GIS and mapping software(s), tools, and functionality.
• Ability to assist in the design and implementation of GIS and mapping methodologies.
• Knowledge of imagery resources and coordinate systems.
• Knowledge of database creation, maintenance, and relationships.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsabilités

• Create and maintain GIS and mapping databases and workspaces.
• Design GIS and mapping methodologies for studies and ongoing projects within the Transportation Planning and Policy Division.
• Analyze and publish data for planning and project purposes.
• Assist in standardization and methods for GIS and mapping functions.
• Research best practices within the GIS/mapping community for potential value to the Department.
• Prepare and update various maps and displays as needed.
• Maintain quality control and review published products for standards and accuracy.
