Job summary

HNTB in Nashville, TN is seeking a GIS and data analytics professional to support transportation planning, engineering, and program management. You will develop and maintain GIS applications, dashboards, and reporting tools that enhance transparency and data-driven decision making.

The role involves managing spatial data, performing geospatial analysis, and building executive dashboards and project tracking tools to communicate performance and investment impacts to leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering/Geography/Planning and 6 years using ESRI/Intergraph/Bentley.
• Or 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• Master's degree preferred with 8+ years GIS experience.
• Experience with MPOs/transit agencies and asset management desirable.
• GIS certifications such as GISP, PMP, Esri Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works with design office to identify and implement value added services to the clients.
• Identifies when to integrate GIS technology into an existing or future project.
• Develops digital display tools to allow the end user to easily display and analyze the data in the GIS database.
• Develops GIS applications using ESRI software, .NET, JavaScript, HTML or Windows client-based development tools.
• Provides input into the business development process, such as defining proposed milestones, estimating work, documenting understanding of need and process to fulfill need.
• Defines standard formats for various GIS product deliverables specific to the industry.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

Full-time, Nashville, TN (NCC) - Serves as a GIS and data analytics resource supporting transportation planning, engineering, program management, communications, transit, and technology initiatives. Develops and maintains GIS applications, web maps, dashboards, analytical tools, and reporting systems that enhance program transparency, support project delivery, and improve data-driven decision-making.

Manages spatial data, performs geospatial analysis, and supports performance monitoring activities for transportation infrastructure programs. Develops mapping products, project tracking tools, performance metrics, and executive dashboards that communicate program status, investment impacts, and key outcomes to leadership, stakeholders, and the public.

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Planning or related field and 6 years related experience using ESRI, Intergraph, or Bentley software products, or
• In lieu of degree, 10 years of relevant experience

What We Prefer

• Master's degree in Geography, GIS, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible GIS experience, preferably within transportation, infrastructure, environmental, or public sector consulting.
• Experience supporting MPOs, transit agencies, local governments, or other transportation clients.
• Familiarity with transportation planning or infrastructure asset management.
• Professional certifications such as GISP, PMP, Esri Technical Certification, or equivalent credentials.
