Job summary

The City of Garland is seeking a GIS Technician to create, maintain, and analyze Engineering GIS data and related infrastructure records. You will integrate plans, CAD data, plats, easements, and project records into the city's GIS environment, providing maps and QA/QC to support multiple departments and the public.

You'll work with ArcGIS Pro/Online, Cityworks, and OnBase, performing data maintenance, spatial analysis, and cross-department collaboration to meet project objectives and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate's degree in GIS or related field.
• 2 years of related GIS experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans and drawings.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain GIS datasets for water, sanitary sewer, streets, easements, and other infrastructure.
• Review engineering plans and CAD files to update GIS features and attributes.
• Maintain CIP-related GIS data and project records.
• Perform QA/QC to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Create maps, exhibits, and reports for multiple stakeholders.
• Coordinate GIS updates with other departments and stakeholders.
• Maintain GIS data for Cityworks and asset-management workflows.
• Assist with ArcGIS Enterprise/Online content and dashboards.
