Job summary

The Florida Department of Transportation is seeking a GIS Mapping Analyst I to join the Geographic Information Systems Office. This role develops Geographic Information Systems products across desktop, server and online platforms, ensuring data governance and GIS standards are met.

You will collect and analyze spatial data from diverse sources, maintain metadata and project records, and support DOT offices and external customers with geospatial solutions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cartography, geography, and mapping terminology.
• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems concepts.
• Skill in the use of GIS and related software for mapping purposes.
• Ability to create geospatial products using mapping software.
• Ability to interpret aerial imagery to identify features.
• Ability to use databases for map preparation.
• Ability to work with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Develop GIS products using GIS desktop, server and online platforms in support of DOT offices and external customers.
• Collect, compile, analyze, and document spatial data sources such as census data, satellite imagery and aerial photography.
• Maintain metadata and project records; conduct research to obtain datasets; support data governance and standards.
• Perform data creation, distribution, web publishing, scanning, archiving, field inventory and software maintenance.
