Qualifications

  • Level I requires high school diploma or GED with one year of relevant experience or training.
  • Level II requires Level I plus two tax-roll cycles, independence, and FACM 01–03 trainings.
  • Level III requires Level II plus two tax-roll cycles, four years of relevant experience, and FACM 04 plus IAAO 600/601.

Overview

The GIS Mapper series performs technical cadastral mapping, and geographic information systems work necessary to create, maintain, analyze, and quality-control the Office’s parcel, ownership, subdivision, taxing district, and related spatial data. This work supports the accuracy and completion of the annual assessment roll.

Employees research and interpret deeds, plats, surveys, legal descriptions, condominium documents, easements, rights-of-way, aerial imagery, and other property records; update GIS and Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal systems; resolve mapping discrepancies; prepare maps and related products; and provide mapping information to employees, governmental agencies, property owners, and other customers. Work must be performed in accordance with applicable laws, Department of Revenue requirements, professional mapping standards, and Office policies and procedures.

The three levels are distinguished by the complexity of assignments, degree of supervision, level of independent judgment, demonstrated technical proficiency, and responsibility for quality assurance, training, and project coordination:

  • Level I: The entry and training level. Employees perform less complex assignments with greater instruction, review, and supervisory assistance while developing the proficiency required for Level II.
  • Level II: The full-performance level. Employees independently and accurately perform the regularly assigned duties of the position, including moderately complex assignments. This level has no direct reports or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Level III: The advanced working-lead level. Employees independently perform the most difficult and complex assignments; assign and review work under the direction of the supervisor; train and provide technical assistance to other employees; and assist with special projects, workflow coordination, problem resolution, system enhancements, and process improvements. This level has no direct reports or formal supervisory authority.
Required Skills and Qualifications

NOTE: Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole is preferred.

  • Level I: High school diploma or GED and one year of relevant experience or technical training in the position’s occupational field or a related field.
  • Level II: All Level I requirements, plus two consecutive full tax-roll cycles in the Level I position; demonstrated ability to work independently; and successful completion of:
  • Introduction to Reading Real Property Descriptions;
  • DOR Real Property Transfer Qualification Code Training; and
  • FACM 01, FACM 02, and FACM 03.
  • Level III: All Level II requirements, plus two consecutive full tax-roll cycles in the Level II position; at least four years of relevant combined education or work experience; and demonstrated advanced technical and working-lead proficiency. At management’s request, the employee must also complete:
  • FACM 04 – Basic Map Compilation; and
  • IAAO 600 or IAAO 601.
Work Location Requirement

This position is in-person and requires candidates to reside in South Florida.
