Job summary

County of Volusia is seeking a GIS Specialist to support Resource Stewardship and Parks, Recreation and Culture divisions in DeLand, FL. The role involves configuring and maintaining GIS systems, creating maps, dashboards, and reports, and assisting staff with field data collection using Esri tools.

The successful candidate will have strong GIS foundations, meticulous attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 5 years of GIS/Geomatics experience.
• Bachelor's degree in GIS or related field with 1 year programming experience.
• A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted.
• Valid driver's license at time of hire; Florida license within 30 days.
• ESRI GISP or Technical Certification preferred; proficiency with Esri software.
• Ability to learn new tools and communicate technical info clearly.

Responsibilities

• Code and test computer systems; create/edit GIS layers, maps, and data.
• Support GIS datasets for conservation lands, trails, roads, and resources.
• Assist with web maps, dashboards, Survey123, Field Maps, and Esri tools.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and workflows.
• Prepare maps, reports, data summaries, and presentations.
• Perform quality control on GIS data, maps, dashboards, and forms.
