Role Description

The City of Venice is seeking a GIS Administrator for a full-time, on-site role based in Venice, FL. The GIS Administrator will manage and maintain the city’s Geographic Information System, oversee enterprise GIS applications, and provide spatial data analysis to support various departments. Additional responsibilities include database administration, system configuration, and troubleshooting. The role requires collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and accurate geospatial data management.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in GIS Applications and strong knowledge of Enterprise GIS systems
• Experience with Database Administration, including creating, managing, and maintaining spatial databases
• Strong Analytical Skills to evaluate and interpret geospatial data
• Knowledge of System Administration to support GIS infrastructure and maintain system performance
• Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
• An Associate’s Degree with six (6) years’ GIS experience and project planning. Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Information Technology, Geography or comparative field with four (4) years’ GIS experience and project planning.
• Must possess an Environmental Systems Resource Institute (Esri) Technical certification or have the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
• Must possess a valid Florida driver's license or ability to obtain an instate license within thirty (30) days from the date of hire.
• Experience in municipal or government GIS applications is a plus
• Familiarity with programming languages used in GIS (e.g., Python, SQL) is an advantage
