Essential Functions:
- Post all changes, designed or as-built, to the transmission, substation, distribution, and land-base asset records in GIS through work orders, work requests, system change notices, field checks, and/or any documents reflecting system changes. Use primary tools such as ESRI Geographical Information System (GIS), AutoCAD systems, and manual hand entries into paper documents.
- Ensure the quality, accuracy, and timely posting of Company/Customer distribution, substation, transmission, and land-base records in GIS by final editing and posting of all relevant records.
- Utilize computer applications including, but not limited to, the Company’s Work Management System, Customer Information System, Geographical Information System, and PC-based applications to manage workflow.
- Conduct field look-ups (overhead and underground) to verify the accuracy of distribution and transmission records supporting the work order process.
- Track construction status on work orders by receiving and reconciling paperwork from appropriate systems.
- Perform QA/QC of one-liners, primary circuits, and follow sheets.
- Lead and provide general direction to employees at the same or lower grade levels to ensure timely and quality work on projects involving multiple Drafting Technicians.
- Offer recommendations to support management decisions regarding work prioritization, training needs, and resource allocation.
- Provide coaching and training on work practices, procedures, systems, and technology used by the GIS records group.
- Support customers through activities in design, construction, and posting stages to facilitate workflow.
- Train Company/Customer personnel in the understanding and use of records systems related to distribution and transmission work.
Education:
- Associate’s Degree in GIS Technology or equivalent certification from a technical school or college in a field relevant to GIS records department activities.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in computer-aided design drafting (GIS, AutoCAD) or equivalent.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Massachusetts Driver’s License and approval to operate company vehicles.
Working Conditions:
- Availability to work emergency restoration assignments as required.
- Willingness to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
