Job summary

CITY OF WICHITA is seeking a Crime Analyst to perform tactical, strategic, and intelligence analysis, collecting and presenting data on crime patterns and trends. You will support problem-oriented policing projects and department performance evaluations.

Qualifications include an associate degree (60 credits) with coursework in CJ, criminology, data science, GIS, or math, plus hands-on data analysis experience and a valid US work authorization.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or current enrollment with 60 completed credits in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Computer Programming, Social Sciences, Data Science, GIS, Geography, Business Analytics or Mathematics.
• Six months of experience using computer data systems to extract, clean, and analyze datasets for data analysis, reporting, or performance evaluation, including statistical analysis, dashboards, and mapping software such as ArcGIS.
• Valid Kansas Driver’s License required.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Extract and analyze data from the records management system relating to criminal activity and department performance.
• Analyze data from police reports, open source documents to identify crime patterns and trends.
• Forecast future crime occurrences and develop target profile analyses.
• Provide support for administrative strategic and tactical functions of the police department.
• Develop/revise processes to increase efficiency and better resource deployment.
