The Public Utilities Commission's Emergency Services Communication is responsible for the implementation and management of Maine's Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) system. GIS is the foundation upon which NG9‑1‑1 location and call routing services are built.
The Public Utilities Commission Emergency Services Communication Bureau is seeking a GIS Coordinator to support and maintain the GIS layers that are required by the NG9-1-1 system within the State of Maine. This position works with Municipal and/or County Addressing Officers to ensure the addresses, roads, and responder layers are up to date and accurate. This position is also responsible for providing training for the online maintenance request system, and Maine's 9-1-1 addressing procedures.
This opportunity to join the ESCB team as a GIS Coordinator will enable you to leverage your experience and knowledge of GIS as part of an experienced 9-1-1 GIS team in Maine's efforts to ensure precise location information, accurate emergency call routing, and efficient response navigation to get the right help to the right place when your fellow Mainers and visitors need it most. This role blends technology, analysis, and real-world impact as you work alongside other GIS professionals and 9-1-1 trainers and analysts to make the system work reliably and efficiently.
