Job summary

City of Amarillo is seeking a GIS Analyst I to maintain and improve the City’s maps and spatial data. You will edit and maintain GIS datasets, create maps, and support various City services by ensuring accurate data.

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in GIS or related field and two years of CAD/GIS experience. Responsibilities include quality control of GIS data, producing maps, and supporting user requests. A valid Texas Driver’s License and passing a background check are required.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Earth Science, or related field.
  • A minimum of two years of practical CAD/GIS experience required.
  • GIS Certification or ESRI training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and updates GIS datasets in accordance with standards.
  • Produces maps and performs standard spatial analysis.
  • Communicates task status and workflow concerns to senior GIS staff.
