Job summary

City Government in Texas is seeking a GIS-focused Engineering-Planning professional to create and maintain city-wide GIS datasets, interpret construction plans, and support mapping for council and staff. The role emphasizes customer service and collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

  • Requires GIS expertise and ESRI ArcGIS proficiency.
  • High school diploma or GED with an associate’s degree or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains city-wide GIS datasets (zoning, land use, water and sewer).
  • Researches and interprets construction plans, deeds, plats and other documents.
  • Maintains and organizes the engineering department's construction documents.
  • Provides staff support for mapping, locating, and inventory of infrastructure, assets, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Collects field data using Trimble GPS, iPads or other mobile devices.
  • Produces maps for council presentations, citizens, and staff.
  • Assists departments and stakeholders to assess GIS needs and solutions.
  • Coordinates with Lamar County Appraisal District and ArkTex COG for GIS data.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
