Job summary

The City of Austin seeks an IT Geospatial Analyst Senior to create, maintain, and display a comprehensive geospatial information system for watershed protection. You will turn raw data into actionable maps and tools, support GIS applications, and work with IT and program staff to maintain data standards and reliability.

Responsibilities include data management, software upgrades, analyses, and responding to data requests.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the job; experience may substitute for education.
Knowledge of programming/scripting principles, techniques, and documentation practices.
Knowledge of mapping, coordinate systems, projections, and scale.
Ability to implement geospatial technology projects.
Ability to modify geospatial apps and databases using scripting languages and automation tools.
Ability to read and interpret surveys, legal descriptions, cartography, engineering docs, etc.
Ability to analyze automation needs for geospatial software/hardware solutions.
Ability to produce maps and other representations of geospatial data.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain geospatial data, maps, and tools for watershed planning and environmental programs.
Design, develop, test, debug, document, and modify geospatial applications.
Analyze data from various sources to produce data sets and reports per specs.
Collaborate with IT staff, program staff, and partners to ensure data accuracy and tool reliability.
Respond to data requests from internal and external customers.
Support GIS applications and policies, governance, standards, and security.
