Job summary

Bexar County's Information Technology team is seeking a GIS Analyst I to support the county's GIS data and mapping projects. The role involves maintaining spatial data, producing maps, and assisting with data analysis to support county services.

Under supervision, you will ensure data accuracy, handle sensitive information, and collaborate with various departments. Telework options provide flexibility while remaining part of the IT team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a relevant degree, 1-3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of GIS technology and various digital data formats; GPS inputs; GIS principles and practices with proficiency in ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server, and ArcPad.
• Proficient in ArcGIS software, related data, metadata, and data modeling; able to digitize, operate a PC and peripherals, and convey technical info clearly.
• Ability to collect, edit, publish data; interpret statistical data; communicate across departments both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrates technological intuitiveness and ability to maintain background clearance and pass pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Serves as subject matter expert with urgency and accountability.
• Compile, maintain and QC basic spatial and tabular data.
• Safeguard sensitive information and ensure data integrity.
• Produce GIS mapping projects for internal and external users.
• Design and produce models using spatial and tabular data.
• Perform basic analysis on spatial and tabular data.
• Digitize maps using GIS, GPS, and remote sensing software.
• Prepare GIS data requests and archive files as needed.
• Troubleshoot basic computer issues and support GIS workflows.
• May work extra hours or weekends as required.
