Job summary

Meade County is seeking a Senior Planner to perform advanced professional planning and administrative work across county planning, development review, GIS, and floodplain management. The role coordinates planning activities, assists with ordinances, and provides technical information to officials, developers, and the public.

The position requires a strong planning background with GIS expertise and offers a full-time role with a benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning, geography, public administration, or related field.
• Three to five years of progressively responsible professional planning experience.
• ICC inspector certifications and wastewater certification are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate county planning activities and develop/ revise ordinances, regulations, standards, and procedures.
• Assist GIS staff with mapping, data analysis, and GIS data maintenance for planning.
• Assist permitting, plan review, building inspections, and development activities; provide technical guidance.
• Investigate and enforce county codes; respond to nuisance and other code-related complaints.
• Assist with floodplain management, stormwater permitting, and FEMA-related reporting.
• Assist with 911 addressing program and maintain addressing records.
• Provide training and guidance to department staff and promote policy consistency.
• Perform related duties as required.
