Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 seeks a Girls Basketball - Assistant Coach (Junior Varsity) to support the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating team development, under Athletic Director guidance.

The role requires coaching experience, teaching or ASEP/NFHS/IHSA credentials, and CPR/AED and concussion training to ensure a safe program. The stipend is set per the district agreement and subject to enrollment and funding.

Qualifications

Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification.
CPR and AED certification for all high school athletic coaches as per IHSA regulations.
IHSA-mandated concussion awareness training and other safety protocols.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Head Coach to design and run drills, practice plans, and conditioning sessions.
Provide individualized feedback to student-athletes on technique and sportsmanship.
Assist with game-day logistics including equipment setup, venue prep, and scorekeeping.
Maintain and inventory athletic equipment and coordinate repairs and issuance.
Monitor IHSA rules, district policies, and safety protocols including CPR/AED readiness and concussion management.
Support athlete eligibility tracking and documentation such as physicals and academic clearances.
Foster positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community partners.
